Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his maiden title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
